1.23: I Loved You First

Shane met her at the venue before her performance. Lilith seemed…he didn’t know what. Frenetic, yet still, at the same time.

“You’re going to be amazing,” he said, pulling her into his arms. “As always.” Maybe she’s nervous.

She pulled on his coat collar and stood on tip toe to kiss his nose. “And you are amazing. As always,” she said, snaking her arms around his neck.

He ran his hands down her sides. “You bring out the best in me, I guess.” He kissed her, hands resting on her hips. “You’ll do great baby.”

And she did. There was really something about her today; he couldn’t remember her pouring herself into her music like this, even when practicing in private. Wow.

To his surprise, she brought out his mother’s guitar toward the end of her show, and starting singing a song he hadn’t heard before.

The usual villagers had turned out for her show, despite the cold, and Shane was proud of her as they cheered around him. The guitar and her new song had gone over extremely well. He loved that she’d used his mother’s guitar. Mom would be so proud.

After the show, they strolled back his camp, as per usual. He moved to get out some fruit to eat, and was surprised when Lilith tugged off his coat, almost impatiently.

“Well, if you insist,” he laughed, divesting himself of the coat, and then she went to unbuttoning his shirt. She leaned up and back, hooking her arms around him.  As he lifted her up, her legs went around him too, so he carried her to bed.

Destiny’s Child – Dangerously In Love

She rode him senseless. Lilith watched his face in passion, reveling in the light playing on his chest, on the fullness of having him inside her. As she moved on him, her hands skimmed up and down his arms, his chest. She leaned forward and kissed him, fingers tangling in his hair. Shane gripped her thighs, and she felt him growing fuller. Exultantly she rocked against him, feeling her own pressure mounting before the release.

She lay half on him, one leg curled over him, her head on his shoulder. Shane loved it when she laid on him like this. He sifted fingers lazily through her hair, his eyes closed.

“Lil?” He spoke softly.

She didn’t answer, and he angled his head to see that she was asleep.

He settled back and kissed her hair. “I love you,” he whispered, and then drifted off to sleep himself.

The next day, the sun tried to work its way through the overcast, and a snowy rainbow hung over the village.

Lilith woke late, to find Shane up and out of bed already. She stretched and yawned, feeling a bit sleepy still.

She found him outside, tending his plants.

“What’s this?” she asked, coming up behind him.

“Morning, beautiful!” He seemed energetic by comparison, but she couldn’t help but smile at his greeting.

“I think it’s wolfsbane,” he continued. “Not something edible, I don’t think. It was one of those seeds I found, I didn’t know what it was. Maybe I can sell it.”

“Daniel might like it,” she said.

“Hmm, you’re right. I’ll ask him when we see him again. But look–” he drew her by the hands to a little table, gesturing at a few bunches of grapes laid out.

“Grapes? Are these French?”

“Yes! I believe they’re cherimola. These came from one of the varieties in the planters.”

This gave her an idea, but she filed it away in favor of breakfast.

She was starving, having skipped eating the night before. Afterwards, she wanted to play in the newly fallen snow. Shane made the mistake of pelting her with a snowball. Turns out, she had good aim, and he quickly conceded defeat, dragging her down into the snow on top of him.

Lilith tried to get up, laughing, but he rolled her over in the snow, and kissed a snowflake on her cheek.

“Let’s build a snowman,” he said, helping her up.

Lilith christened the snowman ‘Frosty’.

“Very original,” Shane snorted. Lilith toppled him in the snow again.

They played and romped like children, then made snow angels together.

“I have something for you,” Shane said, shaking the snow out of his hair and brushing off his coat. He went around the corner of his shelter briefly before reappearing, with one hand behind his back.

“Aww!” Lilith exclaimed, when he handed her a bouquet of snowblossoms.

“I found them growing in the garden this morning. They made me think of you.”

Seeing the sudden soft seriousness of her expression, he stilled.

“Lil? What’s–”

“I love you. I’m…” she blurted and then paused. She raised her eyes to his. “I’m in love with you Shane.”

Shane felt everything else blur, staring at her. Love. She loves me.

I’ve shocked him. Maybe I shouldn’t have– She blushed, uncertainty clouding her face as she looked down at their feet.

He realized he’d stopped breathing, and took a deep breath.

“If you don’t… I understand… I mean…”

His head finally cleared, and he moved his hands up her arms to cup her face, willing her eyes to meet his. “Lilith.” His eyes searched hers, these beautiful eyes the color of summer seas.  “I loved you first,” he said, his voice was thick with emotion.
