Island Paradise Resort Tower Rabbit Hole Rugs

A lot of Sims 3 players were thrilled at the idea of being able to create their own resorts, but a lot of us were disappointed with the fact that there were only 4 styles that take up a lot of space, very much curbing our creative enthusiasm for building the perfect resort for our simmies. So before Island Paradise even landed, I knew we’d want rabbit hole rugs for the resort towers.

This project did not go as easily as planned.

Due to the change in visual state when you upgrade the rabbit hole tower and other such “features”, this rabbit hole rug’s functionality required scripting–something I know nothing about. After Sims MX put me on the right track along with some tutorials, I scratched my head for a few days and grew even more confused. Ok, so maybe I should’ve picked a more simple project to learn scripting >:(

Velocitygrass, fortunately, was willing and able to take a look, and managed to produce a script usable by the rabbit hole rugs. Super major huge ginormous thanks to Velocitygrass for that! Without the script, these rugs could not have been made. VG has some great mods at MTS, such as Remove Stencils or Add Any Lot Size. If you’re building a resort with lots of VIP rooms, the Blueprint Maker may be of special interest to you.

Now, on to the particulars. The rabbit hole rugs require a minimum of 4×4 space for routing purposes. If you enclose them, sims will need a door to enter and exit. The rugs are located under Decor > Rugs, as usual. The rugs function as intended only on Resort lots.

finances
Initial start-up costs are free, but upgrade costs are the same as the regular resort towers. You still have to juggle your finances for the resort as you normally would. These DO NOT overwrite EA’s rabbit holes. You can use both on the same lot, if you really want to.

After the second upgrade, you can unlock spa services for your resort, just as you can with EA’s resort tower objects.

I’ve tested all of these functions and haven’t come across any issues. Velocitygrass’s script is a new script, and thus will not conflict with any other scripts or objects. A patch, however, may very well break them, requiring an update. If you find any functional errors that we’ve overlooked, please leave a comment.

Enjoy!
